Format and Tournament Rules
The Big Bash League is like other big cricket leagues. All the teams play two matches against each other. The team that wins the most matches gets to play in the next round.
Tournament Structure – Group Stages and Playoffs
Like last few seasons, we can expect it to be, 40 matches in the group stage. Each team plays against every other team at least once. The top 4 teams then move on to the playoffs. The playoffs are knockout games. The winners play in the grand final.
Match Format – Points and Qualification
Teams get points for how they do in matches.
- Winning a game gives 4 points.
- In case of Tie/NR both teams will get 1 point each.
- The top 4 teams with the most points and a good net run rate move on to the playoffs.
- If two teams have the same points, the team with the better net run rate does better.
